"To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
—Henri Cartier-Bresson
: Biography :
Fourth-generation San Diego artist Sean McMullen photographs regularly at local venues such as The Casbah, where he is resident club photographer, The House of Blues, SOMA, Cricket Wireless & San Diego State Ampitheaters, The Beauty Bar, and Dizzy's, as well as regional music festivals including Coachella, Austin City Limits, All Tomorrow's Parties, and the San Diego Street Scene. Locally, Sean is a regular contributor to NBC 7's Sound Diego, and has also contributed to San Diego CityBeat, Urbanist San Diego, Downtown News, and San Diego Dialed In. In contrast, his work in Baja California over two decades offers a vivid glimpse into every-day culture across the border, and he has been privately commissioned to capture the daily lives of Baja field workers that produce much of Southern California's cilantro, green onions, and radishes—three of McMullen's favorites.
